A congress of bees met near the roses
ready to speak their truth, gangbuster
into the human world, expose the cons.Β

Happy Book Birthday toΒ Iceland Is Melting and So Are YouΒ by award-winning poet Talya Rubin! We are so excited to share this stunning sophomore collection of poetry with readers everywhere. In these poems, human and wild meet in everyday encounters: the melting of ice sheets and fathoming ecological disaster while listening to news reports on the radio; moments of childhood ice skating and unrequited love alongside geological formations and weather patterns. Plain-spoken, but far from simplistic, Rubin’s poetry refracts the grief, anxiety, and wonder of our modern predicament.

Iceland Is Melting has appeared on several β€œMost Anticipated” fall poetry preview lists, including 49th Shelf, CBC Books, and Quill and Quire. It has also received admiring endorsements from writers across Canada and the United States. Claire Caldwell, author of Gold Rush, writes, β€œIceland Is Melting and So Are YouΒ takes readers into theΒ right nowΒ of the climate crisis, where the daily β€˜thunder of collapse’ is deafening, yet too often ignored. Like a drill through an ice floe, Rubin pierces the numbing layers of human denial and selfish desire, reminding us that we, too, are saltwater.”

In anticipation of the book’s release, Rubin recorded a video introducing readers to her new book. Watch below or here. Enjoy!
