April is National Poetry Month, and we are delighted to kick things off with the release of Lent by Kate Cayley! Read on to learn all about this wonderful collection, which explores domestic and artistic life amidst the environmental crisis and the surprising ways that every philosophical quandary—large and small—converges in the home, in conversations, and moments. Plus, news about the upcoming launch!
Lent by award-winning writer Kate Cayley is a treasure of a collection, deeply curious about the strange times we find ourselves are living in. Analytic and celebratory, crisis prone and surreptitiously inventive, this collection imagines our greatest hopes and fears as they bump against the quotidian. In a recent interview with Open Book, Cayley remarks, “this collection [is] more in ‘my’ voice than anything I’d written before.” Breezily and almost without our noticing, Lent carries the reader toward a sharp awareness of life’s insistent pleasures and imperfections.
Praise for Lent:
