Happy Book Birthday to Cyclettes by Tree Abraham!

Today, we are celebrating the release of Tree Abraham’s Cyclettes! Read on to learn all about this brilliant hybrid work of text and image, and for information about upcoming launches in Ottawa and Toronto!

What does it mean to be happy, to be sated, to live a meaningful life? Is wanderlust curable? Is depression? These are questions asked by writer and graphic designer Tree Abraham in her debut book, Cyclettes, officially out today!

Cyclettes made a splash among early readers, and can be spotted on ‘Most Anticipated’ Fall 2022 Nonfiction lists from CBC Books49th ShelfAll Lit UpQuill & Quire, and Shrapnel Magazine. Part memoir-travelogue, part psycho-sociological snapshot, this multidisciplinary contemplation combines literary vignette and image to approach life’s greater dilemmas.

Tree Abraham is a fixture at the press. Having designed several Book*hug covers over the last many years, she is largely responsible for much of our look and aesthetic. We are so delighted to be the publishers of her first book—which is as much an art object, and exploration of the possibilities in book design, as it is a keen examination of life on the borderlands of adulthood. To learn more about Tree’s design work and collaborations with the press, check out this interview with her on the Book*hug Blog from earlier in the year. As a bonus, read about her design process for Cyclettes in this special feature for Spine Magazine.

Plus watch the video below for Tree’s introduction to the book!
