Happy Book Birthday to archipelago by Laila Malik!

Today, we are celebrating the release of Laila Malik’s stunning debut poetry collection, archipelago!

A ‘Most Anticipated’ Spring 2023 Poetry pick from CBC Books and 49th Shelf, archipelago meditates on girlhood, loss, and love as they play out across different continents and shifting emotional and political terrains. Quill and Quire writes, in archipelago “home is constantly in a state of flux. It exists in a difficult relationship to physical place; the disconnect between generations makes it equally difficult for home to exist in metaphorical spaces.” Reckoning with diasporic life—encountering what is most difficult in defining home—this collection finds beauty in silences and meaning in fracture.
