This week, we are thrilled to welcome another incredible poetry book from our fall catalogue: Vixen by award-winning author Sandra Ridley. Her latest collection is the result of a haunting chance encounter with a fox that led the poet down a personal rabbit hole to create a sort-of live-action bestiary on stalking, victimhood, and power.

Sandra Ridley’s poems examine and investigate a broad range of themes and subjects, including intimate partner violence, stalking and harassment, the medieval fox hunt, species extinction, and climate crisis. Vixen is Ridley at her best: these stunning poems are multilayered and visceral, offering a breathtaking, harrowing immersion in cruelty behind different veils.

Ridley is also the author of The Counting House (finalist for the Archibald Lampman Award) and Silvija (finalist for the Griffin Poetry Prize for Excellence and the Archibald Lampman Award).
