Join us at the Indie Literary Market this Saturday, Nov 16

This Saturday, November 16, Meet the Presses will present its Fall 2013 Indie Literary Market. This curated event will showcase small Canadian literary presses and magazines, from the tiniest micropresses to the biggest of the small, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Tranzac  Club (292 Brunswick Street). Participating presses and zines will have books, broadsides, chapbooks, journals, and other exciting merchandise for sale, and participating oglers will have the opportunity to peruse—and maybe even purchase!—some of Canada’s best and most exciting literature, much of which is hard or impossible to find in our ever-dwindling bookstores.

Confirmed presses and magazines include Apt 9 Press, Baseline Press, BookThug, Carousel, Coach House Books, Exile Editions, Ferno House, Gesture Press, Grow and Grow, Horses of Operation, Imago/Red Iron, Junction Books, Laurel Reed Books, learn/yeats & co, Little Brother Magazine, Mansfield Press, Nestlings Press, Odourless Press, OUTwrites, Pedlar Press, Proper Tales Press, Puddles of Sky, Rampike, Serif of Nottingham Press, Sherwood Press, Sunnyoutside Press, Taddle Creek, The Emergency Response Unit, Thee Hellbox Press, The Porcupine’s Quill, Underwhich Editions, Wolsak and Wynn.

This special event will also feature the announcement of the bpNichol Chapbook Award 2013 winner. The award recognizes excellence in Canadian poetry published in chapbook form. The award originated as the Phoenix Chapbook Award, which was adjudicated for its first two years by Frank Davey and bpNichol, before continuing for 23 years as the bpNichol Chapbook Award under the supervision of the Phoenix Community Words Foundation. Management of the Award has since been taken over by Meet the Presses.
