Toronto Public Library presents Refuse: CanLit in Ruins

May 7, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Why has Canadian Literature been at the heart of public controversies recently?

That’s the question that editors Hannah McGregor, Julie Rak, and Erin Wunker address in the illuminating collection of essays, Refuse: CanLit in Ruins.

Join us for an evening of discussions about what is happening with the world of CanLit. Come learn about the injustices and issues that have sparked the current controversies, and hear from Canadian writers whose perspectives are changing the conversation about what CanLit is and what it could be.

The evening will feature discussions with:

– Co-ditors Hannah McGregor, Julie Rak, Erin Wunker
– Writers Phoebe Wang, Gwen Benaway, Dorothy Ellen Palmer

Toronto Reference Library, Beeton Hall.
Book sales by Another Story Bookshop.

This event is part of the eh List series at the TPL, where we present conversations on Canadian literature and culture with award-winning authors, poets, journalists and exciting new voices. See tpl.ca/ehlist for the full lineup.

This event is FREE, and no registration is needed to attend.
