We welcome Nick Lyons, Thuy Da Lam and D. Nandi Odhiambo to honor the legacy of Paul Lyons (1958 – 2018). A professor of English, who taught at the University of Hawai’I at Manoa for 27 years, Paul Lyons stood out as one of the English department’s most respected and beloved teachers, mentors and scholars. His published work concerns theoretical, methodological and pedagogical issues in the study and teaching of the literature of the Pacific region.

Nick Lyons, author of Bright Rivers, will be reading from books written by his son Paul Lyons. Nick will be joined by Thuy Da Lam, who works and teaches at Kapi‘olani Community College in Honolulu, and will be reading from her debut novel Fire Summer and D. Nandi Odhiambo, Associate Professor of English at the University of Hawai’i–West O’ahu, who will be reading to us from his latest novel Smells Like Stars.
