“Here is the music that meant a lot to me as I wrote I Remember Lights: songs I studied to, played while I was writing, or listened to around the times when I was most intensely working on the book. I don’t think I’ll ever write a book that takes place in an era with better music than this – I really relished in it. I wanted the book to be full of music, movies, books and art of the era. I looked for any opportunity to mention these things on the page. For music, that meant naming the song that’s playing on the radio, on the dancefloor, or just in my narrator’s head. I hope they catch in the head of the reader, and further transport them to the summer of Expo. Here are some of my absolute favourites, out of the forty or so songs named in the book.” —Ben Ladouceur
